Instead of holding two separate celebrations over two days, why not choose to roll two in to one?
By combining the Mehndi with the Sangeet, not only will your (Female) guests will feel more included across all aspects of the wedding celebrations but this could work out more cost effective as you wouldn't have the added expense of individual and venue hire.
This will free up some extra cash for added luxuries for your Sangeet and / or wedding reception, or to spend more on yourself!
There are numerous activities that could be used to keep your guests entertained throughout the day. However, as a guest, seeing or doing the same thing at each wedding can become a bit of a bore. So, why not make your wedding the one to spice it up!
One suggestion is to hold a sports match at the wedding reception for all to get involved in or instead, if your guests don't want to get too sporty, why not have balloons filled with paint and have them attached to numerous blank canvases scattered around the venue (venue permitting of course with the necessary precautions taken to not damage the venue!) and encourage your guests to throw darts at it (from a safe, splash-free distance) and at the end of the day, you get to keep and treasure unique, memorable pieces of art from your special day.
Make your guests feel like VIP's with a cute welcome gift and a drink on arrival to the ceremony..
Your guests won't be expecting anything until the wedding reception, but a little token of your appreciation for them attending will go down extremely well and it will also distract them long enough should the bride need a little extra time to prepare and get ready before the ceremony.
Include some useful goodies that your guests can use on the day such as a bottle of water, an eye mask for sleeping later that evening and some sandals or flip-flops so they can kick off their heels and join in on the dancing fun more comfortably!
An increasingly popular Asian Wedding idea at cocktail hours is to create numerous DIY stations so your guests can have fun by creating their own cocktails. Maybe for something a little extra special, hire a handful of mixologists, each with their own station to teach your guests how to make fun, fruity and intricate cocktails. Whilst this is happening, you and your partner can sneak away for a private photo session or even just take some time to rest before the next stage of the day begins.
For added bonus points, whilst your guests are drinking their creations, hire the services of a magician to keep them entertained.
A truly thoughtful and sentimental idea for your Asian Wedding is to seek the wisdom of your respected elders and other married couples. Present these guests with flowers and ask them to write down one piece of marriage advice they could give you. Then, have them place their advice in a sealed envelope or a wooden box, which yourself and your partner will have joy reading after the wedding.
